The Cannabis Accounting Toolkit
You don't need a finance degree to run excellent cannabis books. You need the right setup, a monthly routine, and controls over cash and inventory. These are the templates from the Cannabis Finance Bootcamp, ready to use.
- Set up QuickBooks with a cannabis chart of accounts for your license type
- Close every month the same way, with a preparer and reviewer sign-off on each task
- Know what each product really costs to make
- Keep cash and inventory under control with counts, reconciliations and a Form 8300 log

Who it's for
- Operators (dispensaries, cultivators, manufacturers) who want books they can trust and fewer tax-season surprises
- Bookkeepers who want a repeatable cannabis process instead of a year-end scramble
- CPAs and finance pros new to cannabis who want a client-ready starting point
Who it's not for
If you need someone to prepare your return or represent you in an audit, you need a cannabis CPA. This toolkit makes that relationship cheaper and faster, but it doesn't replace it.

Questions
I'm not an accountant. Can I use this?
Yes. Each workbook opens with a plain-English "Start here" tab. If you have a bookkeeper, hand it to them. That's exactly who it's built for.
What format are the files?
Four Excel (.xlsx) workbooks that also open in Google Sheets, plus CSV chart of accounts files you can import into QuickBooks Online.
Does this cover 280E?
280E is part of it, not the whole story. The chart of accounts has COGS accounts for allocating direct labor, materials and overhead to inventory, and the close checklist includes the monthly 280E allocation step for adult-use activity, updated for the 2026 rescheduling of medical cannabis.
Is this tax advice?
No. It's an educational tool and template set. Review your results with a qualified cannabis tax professional before filing.
